About The Hunger Truck HTX

Everything is bigger in Texas, but that statement was never meant to allude to the number of people who do not have access to hot, nutritious meals every night. In Houston, 1 in 8 individuals is food insecure.

For the last two years, volunteers at MCC have held one-off projects to provide meals to the community. We have fed Houstonians experiencing homelessness, refugees in temporary housing, and other economically disadvantaged communities of all faiths and backgrounds. Armed with those experiences and a new partnership with the organization Muslims Giving Back, we are ready to begin consistently serving our brothers and sisters in humanity through the Hunger Truck initiative.

With our most ambitious endeavor yet, we will prep, cook, and distribute hundreds of wholesome meals weekly. Our goal is to send the Hunger Truck out on the streets of Houston seven nights a week, sharing resources and breaking bread. We know this can be accomplished because when we say that everything is bigger in Texas, we are referring to how compassion is bigger in Texas. Sense of community is bigger in Texas. The inherent desire to help one another is bigger in Texas.

We invite you to join us each Saturday as we prepare, cook, and distribute meals to communities across Houston. Come alone or with a group- we hope to see you soon!
