Reviving A Tradition At HomeThe Takeya Kitchen of Houston is an aspiring project at the Multicultural Center that seeks to feed and nourish community members and their families by preparing and providing free meals continuously throughout the day. Reviving the noble tradition of feeding neighbors around the clock, it is our hope that the Takeya Kitchen of Houston will act as an enduring source of compassion and sustenance in Houston.

We've Started the Ground Work
Plans, permits and processes are all completed, and soon, so will our building's foundation. But we've only just begun this momentous journey, with far more work to go from here.
Building From the StartSince the beginning of the COVID pandemic in 2020, the MCC has joined the fight against food insecurity and has distributed more than 200,000 pounds of food to 120+ needy families through our Sunday Drive-Thru and Meals on Wheels programs. Our mobile food distribution initiative, the MCC Hunger Truck, feeds homeless and hungry Houstonians of all ages and creed full and balanced meals prepared at the MCC by volunteers every other weekend. Since its start in November of 2021, 36,000 people rely and depend on our services.
